Jenna Ortega's Sheer Tulle And PVC Red Carpet Dress Is So On-Brand

Jenna Ortega has been taking style cues from Wednesday Addams – the character that catapulted her to super-stardom back in 2022 when Tim Burton's Wednesday hit screens – since long before method dressing was considered the norm for actors embarking on press tours. In fact, given she was still in her formative teen years at the time, it's tricky to work out where Ortega's personal style begins and Wednesday's ends at all.

And now that the actor is promoting her upcoming film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice – another Burton take on a horror classic – the line is becoming even more blurred. As her latest look for a photo call in Mexico would suggest, Ortega is very much holding fast to the 'goth glam' aesthetic that has come to define her red carpet style... And we love to see it.

Appearing alongside co-stars Monica Bellucci, Michael Keaton and Justin Theroux at the event in Mexico City yesterday, Ortega and her stylist Enrique Melendez dug deep into the designer archives to resurface a perfectly on-brand piece by Vivienne Westwood.

First seen in the designer's Gold Label spring/summer 2009 show, the dress is a veritable work of art that juxtaposes the classic balletic beauty of off-the-shoulder semi-sheer nude tulle with 'lace' embroidery, that upon closer inspection, is actually made of black PVC. A signature unexpected design detail from the ever-rebellious Westwood.

Ortega completed the look with glossy black Mary-Jane platform heels, black diamond jewellery by Maison H. and blood-red nails, really leaning into her signature style. We'll be keeping a close eye on the actor's press tour-drobe to see what goth-glam fashion brilliance she brings us next.
