James Haskell says ex Chloe Madeley has made him ‘a better person’ and he still ‘loves her’
James Haskell says ex-wife Chloe Madeley made him a “better person” as he admits he still has a “love” for her.
Former England Rugby star James and fitness influencer Chloe married in 2018 and share daughter Bodhi together. However, in October 2023 the pair announced their split, shortly after filming a reality TV show about their family.
Chloe, the daughter of TV stars Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, and James continue to co-parent their daughter together. And the personal trainer has previously said the end of their marriage was “awful”.

She said the final year was “one of the worst periods of my life”. And while Chloe has admitted the pair are better off apart, James credits her for making him a “better person”.
Speaking on the Spooning with Mark Wogan podcast, he said: “Chloe is an amazing woman, extremely talented, she’s made me a much better person, being with her, now we’re separated. You separate essentially because you want to make sure your daughter has the best possible life.
“And I think when you have a child you have a responsibility and all of your other wishes go out of the window. The ability for us to co-parent and do stuff is so important, Chloe is more vocal because she wears her heart on her sleeve.
“I’m a bit more reserved because I think she’s amazing. With social media nothing dies, when we were younger they say today’s newspaper is tomorrow’s s*** paper but not anymore.”
James admits he still has a “love” for the mother of his child, and expects Bohdi will one day ask about the split. He says he will respond: “I still love Chloe, you know we love you, and this is what happened.”

While the pair have not revealed the exact reason why they split, it is thought James’s busy schedule as a DJ put a strain on their relationship. It also sparked speculation after James was seen partying with other women.
In a moment captured on Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair, the pair had a row after James "was in Ibiza and posted photos of other girls' a***s". Chloe said she did not appreciate such content being shared on social media, saying, "when everyone knows I'm your wife'."
Chloe said he believes James “thrives in chaos”. She believes the pair were both “unhappy” when they were together.
Both Chloe and James will be appearing on Pointless Celebrities at 8.35pm tonight (Saturday, February 1) on BBC One. Also appearing will be Charlene White, Fern Britton, Crystelle Pereira, Kwoklyn Wan, Phil Wang and Pierre Novellie.
