ITV This Morning fans ask 'is there a point' as they fume over Pancake Day segment
This Morning fans asked "is there a point" as they fumed over a Pancake Day segment on Tuesday (March 4).
During today's episode of the ITV daytime programme, hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard introduced baker Juliet Sear, who had created a pancake illusion cake. The bake had been disguised alongside a real stack of pancakes, with viewers being asked to identify which was the cake.
"They are absolutely stunning," Ben said as he examined the plates, with Cat adding: "We are stood so close. I mean, Juliet, I can't even tell you what an amazing job you've done."
Juliet then cut into the real sponge, which was flavoured with lemon and blueberry, with the hosts sharing their disbelief.

"The way you've done that beautifully round the sides to make it look like pancakes is just brilliant," Ben shared, before Cat said: "It's incredible. Will you show us how to make it?"
"I'll show how to do it, yeah, let's go to the kitchen," Juliet replied, as she started recreating how she made the illusion.
However, many viewers were confused by the decision to make a cake instead of whipping up pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
Fans subsequently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their frustration over the segment, with one writing: "Should be pancakes... not cake ffs it's shrove Tuesday."
"Feels like today is the only day of the year where you could've done a couple of different pancake recipes and it actually would've been helpful," another added, while a third said: "Just make a cake or pancakes don't see the point to this!"
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: "Is simply making normal pancakes not entertaining enough for morning tv anymore? Why are we watching someone making a cake on pancake day?"
Speaking about the appeal of illusion cakes, Juliet explained: "It's such a fun thing to do, I think, especially if you get the kids involved."
Cat then introduced Joanne from the Guinness Book of Records, ahead of Ben's attempt to reclaim his record for the most pancake flips in a minute.
Later on in the show, fans were relieved to see Juliet return to the kitchen to make her perfect pancake batter, with one writing: "Yay actual pancakes!"
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
