Umm, Katy Perry is nearly naked in a dress made just of strings of beads...
It was a big weekend for awards szn, with both the Brit Awards and the Oscars taking place on back-to-back nights. Add to that the fact the Vanity Fair Oscars Party meant a third red carpet happening over a 48 hour period with almost all of Hollywood in attendance, and it's no wonder we missed Katy Perry's latest Instagram post. So, while our favourite A-listers are no doubt still recovering from a full-on weekend, now seems like the perfect opportunity to revisit KP's post and bring your attention to her recent look. Because, trust us, you're gonna want to see what she's wearing.
Just over a month after she donned a sheer corset dress that had a micro mini skirt that looked like it was made of lettuce, Katy has replicated that same outfit formula to wear another corset + quirky combo – albeit much *much* more naked than before.
Sharing a series of pics, Katy can be seen wearing a sheer nude corseted bodice beneath strings of multicoloured beads that have been threaded together and wrapped around her body. The white, turquoise, lilac, orange, red and teal beads don't quite form a dress, resembling more of an open net that reveals the exposed boning on her bodice and her nude fishnet tights, the only things Katy had on underneath. Oversized beaded drop earrings in a coordinating teal metallic hue and silver heeled sandals completed the nearly naked ensemble.
Turns out, Katy's outfit was on theme as she was in attendance at a Mardi Gras party in New Orleans ahead of the official day, AKA ‘Fat Tuesday’ or ‘Shrove Tuesday’ as it's known in the UK. The festival is a big celebration in the Southern American city in which colourful beads are thrown from parade floats that make their way through the streets. Proving she was truly soaking up the New Orleans culture, the final two slides of her carousel post showed Katy's teacup poodle, Nugget, covered in powdered sugar after tucking into a plate of beignets, a New Orleans delicacy of fried dough covered in the confectionary.
Katy's love for the city is evidently reciprocated as it was announced at the party that March 1st would be known as ‘Katy Perry Day’ in the Lousiana city, with the artist presented with a certificate confirming the decree. Congrats to Katy, we guess!
