ITV Emmerdale fans ‘rumble’ new love triangle after brutal proposal snub
Emmerdale viewers are convinced a messy new love triangle could soon be on the horizon after Charles Anderson’s proposal to Manpreet Sharma was hastily shot down by the bride to be during Wednesday night’s (10 April) visit to the Dales.
As regular viewers will know, earlier this week Charles’ mum Claudette Anderson unsubtly suggested that her son, the village vicar, should be married to Manpreet rather than “living in sin” in an attempt to earn the favour of the new Bishop. Initially unreceptive to the idea, Charles caved to pressure and suggested to the Bishop that the pair did intend to get engaged in the future, much to Manpreet’s displeasure.
Shrugging it off as an offhanded comment to impress their dinner guest, Manpreet thought nothing of it - at least not until Charles plucked up the courage to pop the question on Wednesday evening.
Opting to make a public proposal while in the Woolpack, Manpreet was put on the spot and begrudgingly accepted to save face, but later at home things took a drastic turn, when she admitted to Charles that she liked their relationship as it was and didn’t actually want to get married before admitting she had felt pressured to accept.
In fact, during the heart to heart, Manpreet even cited the last time the pair had been engaged, when she famously left him at the altar and ran away, hinting that she had no intention of repeating the situation.
Clearly blindsided by the news, Charles was left reeling but fans at home were baffled by her decision to turn down the proposal, with many suggesting that her decision to refrain from married life may be down to her developing feelings for another Emmerdale resident.
As viewers may recall, in recent weeks Manpreet’s co-workers Dr. Liam Cavanagh and Ella Forster have been growing closer, following his split from Wendy Posner - with Manpreet even publicly criticising the pair for their lack of unprofessionalism at work.
Many viewers now believe that her criticism may stem from a place of jealousy, with several fans convinced she could have eyes for the doctor herself, something which would mean yet another love triangle on the horizon.
Taking to social media one person wrote: “Is Manpreet getting jealous about Liam and the receptionist???” A second fan also echoed the sentiment adding: “I think Manpreet is jealous of Liam and Ella getting closer. I think she fancies Liam herself.”
A third fan also weighed in adding: “Manpreet turning down Charles definitely makes me think there’s someone else.”
Before a fourth added: "I think Manpreet has a problem with men who treat her well she broke Rishi’s heart & now it looks like she’s going to break Charles again, I think for her commitment is a dirty word."
