Inside the life of Sinead Keenan from marriage to children and famous sister-in-law
Popular ITV1 drama Unforgotten is returning to our screens, with Sinead Keenan reprising her role as DCI Jess James. Sinead took over the role of playing the lead detective in the series in 2023, from Nicola Walker who played DCI Cassie Stuart.
Sinead was born in 1997 in Dublin and is also known for playing Farrah Phelan in Fair City and werewolf Nina Pickering in Being Human. Her first role was actually starring alongside famous Irish actor Cillian Murphy, playing his girlfriend in the film Sunburn.
In March, 2018, Sinead won the Royal Television Society programme award for actor (female) for her role as Melanie Jones in Little Boy Blue, an ITV drama about the murder of Rhys Jones in Croxteth, Liverpool. In April, 2018, it was announced that she had been nominated for a leading actress BAFTA TV award for the same role.

Sinead is married to TV and film director Christopher McGill and they married in 2012 and now live in London. It was a very private wedding but fellow Irish star Andrew Scott, known for Sherlock and Fleabag, shared a photo of him at the wedding.
Her husband has worked on a number of high profile TV programmes including Eastenders, Casualty and Holby City. Sinead and her husband Chris both worked on short film, The Snatcher, released in 2020. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.
Sinead keeps her personal life private and has two children who are now aged 10 and eight. Her brother and sister, Rory and Grainne are also both actors and Rory has appeared in TV shows including Peaky Blinders and Somewhere Boy.
He is married to another actress, Gemma Arterton, who played Bond girl Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace. Grainne appeared alongside Sinead in her first series of Unforgotten, playing Debbie in episodes three and four. Unforgotten series six begins at 9pm on ITV1 on Sunday, February 9.
