'Those of you who think you're perfect are very annoying to those of us who are.' That was one of many slogans that adorned T-shirts in the 1970s. Although you're unlikely to claim to be perfect, you can certainly see what's best for a particular person. But your efforts to persuade them of this could make you appear 'holier than thou' or even be smothering. Rather than point out where somebody's going wrong, try to focus on what they do right.
