Hilary Duff’s usually long, blonde hair has been given a dramatic makeover as she debuts her new blue bob on Instagram.

People around the world in coronavirus quarantine aren’t able to go to their hairdressers and are instead trying out dramatic changes to their looks.

Hilary Duff isn’t the first celebrity to change her hairstyle in quarantine, but she wins the biggest DIY change.

Miley Cyrus has already cut in her own fringe while Elle Fanning turned her hair a a dusky pink at home.

The 32-year-old shared her bold new look over the Easter break in an Instagram post with a confused shrug emoji as the caption.

Accompanied with her ever-so-slightly worried look, we might assume that Duff’s not entirely happy with the outcome, but we think it looks great.

If you’re going to make a big change, it might as well be now when nobody is going to see it.

It was unclear whether this mermaid-inspired hair is a wig or her real hair - but we’ve seen a little sneak peek of it on the actresses Instagram Stories, too.

Duff can be seen sporting her aqua hair tied back in a bun with the caption “when the teacher can’t take no more” which seems to be a reference to her home schooling her eight-year-old, Luca.

Fans were overwhelmingly positive about her new look, describing it as “iconic”.

“Why not take a crazy chance?” One user pointed out, while others noted how refreshing it is to see how casual Duff is about changing her hair colour.

After all, let’s not forget the Lizzie McGuire actress’ cotton candy coloured hair back in 2016.

That period of her life was certainly one for hair changes.

Back in 2015 she thanked hairdressers for “turning her into a mermaid” with a longer, slightly darker version of her new bob style.

At the time she explained to MTV News that she made the decision to dye her hair blue on a whim, and it seems this decision follows much of the same pattern.
