The White Lotus will be returning to our screen with its third season this February. The Emmy-award winning American series, created by Mike White, will be whisking viewers away to the beautiful southeast Asian country of Thailand.

But like we've seen in the first season, which took place in Hawaii, and the second season, which happened in the Italian island of Sicily, dark secrets and twisted truths lie beneath the opulent facade of the White Lotus resort. This season promises to offer a "satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality", according to show creator Mike White.

The last season, which was set in Sicily, ended on a cliffhanger when a fan favourite character had died. While, this season will see the return of a familiar face from season one, which was set in Hawaii. When does White Lotus' third season begin and how many episodes are there?

HBO has confirmed that the drama series will begin on Sunday, February 16, at 9pm. There will be eight episodes in total, with every episode aired on a weekly basis.

Where can I watch it?

In the UK, you can watch White Lotus on Now TV through its premium subscription. While you are waiting for the third season to air, you can catch up on season one and season two, which are available on the streaming service now.

Where is it filmed?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the brand new season has been filmed in and around the beautiful island of Koh Samui, Phuket and Bangkok, with the resort filmed at the Four Seasons Koh Samui, which is surrounded by tropical gardens and has a private beach.

Who is in the third season?

As has been the case for the first and second season, the third season will include a star-studded cast. The White Lotus resort will be welcoming Natasha Rothwell, marking her return to the series after she first appeared on the hit TV show back in 2021 during its first season, set in Hawaii. Rothwell will once again play the role of Belinda Lindsey, who is the spa manager of the Hawaiian resort.

She aspired to create her own business and was left with a hefty amount of money by Tanya McQuoid, played by the iconic actress Jennifer Coolidge. Joining Rothwell will be the franchise newcomers, which includes one star from Netflix's Sex Education and a famous actor from the Harry Potter film franchise.

Cast list for White Lotus season three:

  • Carrie Coon - portrays Laurie, who is one third of a friend group embarking on their first girls' trip in a long while.

  • Leslie Bibb - plays Kate, a friend of Laurie and Jaclyn and is also on the girls' trip.

  • Michelle Monaghan - plays Jaclyn, a friend of Laurie and Kate. rounding out the trio on the trip.

  • Walton Goggins - plays Rick Hatchett, described as a tough guy with a chip on his shoulder. He travels with his girlfriend, Chelsea.

  • Aimee Lou Wood - the Sex Education star plays the role of Rick's girlfriend Chelsea, who is seemingly the opposite of her boyfriend with her free spirit nature.

  • Jason Isaacs - the Harry Potter star who played Lucius Malfoy in the film franchise, will be playing Timothy Ratliff, a wealthy businessman vacationing with his wife and three children.

  • Parker Posey - plays Timothy's wife, Victoria Ratliff.

  • Patrick Schwarzenegger - the eldest son of Timothy and Victoria Ratliff, Saxon Ratliff.

  • Sarah Catherine Hook - the middle child in the Ratliff family, Piper, who is a college senior studying religious studies.

  • Sam Nivola - the youngest of the Ratliff children, Lochlan, who is in high school.

  • Nicholas Duvernay - plays the role of Zion Lindsey, who appears to play a guest at the resort, but his role remains a mystery until the show's debut. Based on the surname, there could be a connection between him and Belinda [Natasha Rothwell].

  • Lek Patravadi - plays Sritala, who is one of the owners of the White Lotus resort and is the visionary behind its wellness programme.

  • Lisa [Lalisa Manobal] - Lisa of Blackpink fame will play the character of Mook, who is a health mentor at the resort.

  • Dom Hetrakul - will play another role of an employee at the resort, but so far, there is very little detail about his character's name or storyline.

  • Tayme Thapthimthong - plays the role of Gaitok, who is a security guard at the resort.

The series will also star Charlotte Le Bon, Arnas Fedaravičius, Christian Friedel, Morgana O'Reilly, Shalini Peiris, Julian Kostov and Scott Glenn.

What is the plot of White Lotus?

The White Lotus franchise is a black comedy drama anthology television series that follows the same set-up every season but with different storylines. Each season follows the lives of the guests and employees at the fictional White Lotus resort in the space of a week, until secrets, lies and truths get the better of them. According to the show's creator, Mike White, this season will primarily focus on death, Eastern religion and spirituality.

Each season offers mostly brand new cast members, however some actors have reprised their roles over the space of two seasons. In season one, Jennifer Coolidge of American Pie and Legally Blonde fame starred as hotel guest, Tanya McQuoid, in the Hawaiian resort, before returning as the same character in the second season in Sicily. Previous seasons have also starred other well known cast such as Netflix's One Day actor Leo Woodall, English actor Theo James from The Divergent series, American actresses Aubrey Plaza and Sydney Sweeney, as well as The Sopranos' star Michael Imperioli.
