By this point, H&M's designer collaborations are the stuff of legend among fashion lovers (Karl Lagerfeld, Isabel Marant, Erdem, Rabanne...), but the newly announced resort collection inspired by The White Lotus has taken our excitement to new levels. Combining two of our greatest loves – fashion and TV – it's been crafted with the hit HBO show's costume designer, Alex Bovaird, so you really will feel like you've joined the gang while chilling by the pool in a colourful printed kaftan on your next holiday.

Launching in stores and online on Thursday 20 February, just in time for the release of The White Lotus season three, you can expect a glamorous 25-piece range offering dynamic prints, boho crochet sets, long floaty dresses and high-impact kaftans, all designed to be layered and easily adapted for daytime relaxation or evening elegance. Described by H&M as 'a daring and dream-like vacation wardrobe', it's all we'll be packing in our suitcase this summer, not least because the prices are so surprisingly affordable, ranging from £18.99 to £118.

The joyfully vivid colours of the H&M x The White Lotus collection are what really stand out to us, conveying the promise of a very good time in the sun. Similarly, the voluminous silhouettes, with soft, translucent fabrics adorned with on-trend ruffles, are perfect for wafting around a luxury hotel like you own the place (inspiration: Jennifer Coolidge as the unforgettable Tanya). Crochet and floral open-work, coupled with romantic lotus flower and playful elephant motifs, fabulously evoke the cinematic sense of escapism and make us want to jump on a plane immediately (ideally with a one-way ticket).

Highlights include flirty, 1960s-influenced babydoll dresses, short-and-sweet lace looks, statement co-ords and a billowing shirred dress in a rich shade of burgundy, complete with rippling ruffles. We've also got our eyes on a chic orange ruffle kaftan, a black-and-white halterneck dress with a flounced hem and a sleek baby blue and burgundy swimsuit with matching kaftan. Don't forget to finish off with some accessories, either – think tote bags, beaded and shell-pendant necklaces, woven hats, sunglasses and pom-pom slides.

Speaking of the zeitgeisty new launch, Bovaird said: 'I loved working with the team at H&M on the designs for the collection. We always have this little catchphrase on the show: "Nothing's too much for The White Lotus!" So, I'm drawn more to the bold patterns and the more sumptuous, billowing pieces. I love that the collection can be worn all day — something you could just throw on to go to breakfast or the pool, or you could add jewellery and wear it to dinner. There’s something for everyone. The collection incorporates the jungle, the show’s bright iconic colours, and some gold and glitz that signify a stylish and luxurious resort vacation.'

Not familiar with The White Lotus? It's time to schedule in a telly binge! The Emmy-winning dark comedy follows the crazy lives of the guests and staff at a fictional hotel chain, with the first two seasons set in Hawaii and Sicily, and the third taking us to Thailand. It drops on 17 February, starring Lalisa Manobal (BlackPink's Lisa), Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Jason Isaacs, among many others.

Teasing season three during a post-season-two-finale interview with HBO, series creator Mike White said: "The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex," he said. "I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality." Sounds like a must-watch to us... and most definitely a must-shop, too.
