Another day, another Gwyneth Paltrow-powered wellbeing innovation. Hot on the heels of her lifestyle brand goop's more provocative offerings (you know we're talking about the vagina-scented candle), comes her new meditation app, Moments of Space.

But if GP is selling, I am buying, (her G. Label clothing collection, her goop beauty range, I'm even a devotee of her weekly goop podcast), so I jump at the Zoom invitation to hear more. I'm even allowed to submit a question for her in advance (I ask, of all the pieces of wisdom she's received from wellness gurus, which three have had the most impact on the way she lives?).

And a week later there she is, all thick-framed glasses (apparently Caddis is her go-to brand) and Tracey Anderson-honed arms. Gwyneth tells us that what sets Moments of Space apart from the other apps vying for real estate on our phone-screens, is that it champions eye-open meditation – meaning you don't have to carve out 15 minutes of time and hunt for a dark corner to be able to participate. In fact, you can now meditate whilst walking, commuting, or even hanging out the washing. Their philosophy is little and often.

Apparently, Moments of Space – which is a collaboration with British software developer (and Buddhist) Kim Little – uses the latest AI technology to personalise each user's experience, determining just what mindful content its users will need and when.

“Once you learn how to do eyes-open meditation – something you can literally incorporate at any time – you can be engaged with the world but still very connected to yourself,” says Gwyneth. “I rely on it to feel more whole.”

I'm not sure how 'whole' I manage to feel during the three minute eyes-open meditation Gwyneth then guides us on, asking us to first acknowledge the space in the distance, then around us, then inside us. It's hard to focus on nothingness, as opposed to Gwyneth's impeccable complexion (is that goop Glow at work?!) and I confess she loses me halfway through. But as someone who definitely needs to find stillness in the craziness, I think I'd be a perfect candidate for Moments of Space.

Next Gwyneth answers our questions – and mine is one of the first. So, here are her three life-changing lessons...

How you relate to the issue is the issue

You can view anything in your life as an obstacle or a chance to learn and grow. Reframing your mindset can change everything else.

You need to show up for yourself

It's important to reflect on the way you speak to yourself – don't let cultural or transgenerational opinions change the way you view yourself. You need to be a deep, true friend for yourself.

The practice of forgiveness is everything

We get stuck when we cannot forgive – ourselves and others. To let go of remorse and shame, you have to learn how to truly forgive.
