Great grandmother celebrates 100th birthday with 'When You're Smiling' rendition

Natural born performer, Letitia “Letty” Lancaster, celebrated her 100th birthday in style - with a rendition of Louis Prima’s ‘When You’re Smiling’.

The video shows the birthday girl singing surrounded by her friends and family and wearing a “Happy 100th Birthday” sash and tiara.

The clip, which we couldn’t help but smile at (that’s the idea, right?) shows Letitia tapping her feet while singing.

“No matter how old I am, I will always sing.” She explained.

She comes from a musical background, which might explain her note-perfect rendition.

Growing up in a house of seven siblings, they were all taught to sing and dance by their mother, who was part of the 1890s dance troupe, Tiller Girls.

In her 20s, she sang professionally alongside her siblings - four brothers and three sisters.

In the 1980s, she even performed on Des O’Connor Tonight with her husband George Lancaster, who passed away in 2010.

The heartwarming clip was caught on camera by her granddaughter-in-law, Vicky Lancaster.

At the end of the song, you can hear the audience - her friends and family - burst into cheers and applause.

She currently resides in a care home in Scotland where she regularly entertains the residents with songs, so much so that she has been hailed a “natural performer” by her peers.

Speaking about enjoying a good old sing-song, Letitia said: “Performing has always been a part of my life and it keeps me happy.”

She married George in 1947 and the two lived together in Cheadle Staffs, where they had son Paul in 1952.

The family later moved to Blackpool, Lancs, where they were a big part of the variety performance scene, playing at Blackpool Grand Theatre and the Opera House.

Letitia isn’t the first former star to re-ignite her passion in her later years.

Former nude model, Yvonne Vinall, 86 has revealed she will be donating her body to science when she passes away in the hope that it can continue to help when she’s gone.

The 86-year-old, who posed as a nude life model into her seventies, is going to donate her body to the London Anatomy Office.

Lilian Cox and Doris Dobday claim no sex, raw sausage sandwiches and a pint of Guinness or two are the secrets to a long and happy life.
