Best known for presenting The Great British Bake Off, it has been reported that Noel Fielding's Apple TV series has been axed. The reports come after Noel did not return to filming for the show, after Christmas.

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin first aired on Apple TV in spring 2024 and it is believed filming started on a second series in the autumn, but Noel, 51, who co-wrote the series and plays the infamous highwayman in the show, didn’t return after the production paused for the Christmas holidays. A TV insider said: “They were understandably bewildered and infuriated by the bombshell because the shoe show required millions of pounds, months of planning and hours of work.

"It now effectively means that they are all out of work and looking for new jobs, but they still haven’t had a full explanation. Naturally, the rumour mill is in overtime as to what has happened with Noel, but it must have been very serious to axe the whole show.

"In most circumstances execs will at least consider pausing filming, but for some reason they decided to throw in the towel before the situation got any worse." A spokesperson for Noel told the Daily Mail: "This is a private and confidential matter regarding our client's health. We are saddened by the decision to cease production but we cannot make any further comment on this matter." For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.

It is now also being reported that Love Productions, who produce the hit Channel 4 show The Great British Bake Off which Noel co-presents with Alison Hammond, are preparing for if Noel needs to withdraw from filming for the series. An insider said: "Everyone at Love Productions was, of course, worried to learn about Noel's ill health, and will do everything they can to support him. Nothing is set in stone, but they are preparing for every possible outcome and have plans in place if Noel is unable to continue as host on series 16."
