BBC The Traitors 'The Seer' twist explained as big reveal has 'potential to change game'

It's been another great series of The Traitors and with only three episodes left, fans are on the edge of their seats waiting to find out how it will conclude.

At the end of Friday's episode (January 17), a preview was shown for the final three episodes and host Claudia Winkleman could be seen sharing huge news with the remaining contestants.

She informed the stars at a roundtable: "I'm going to award one of you with an extraordinary power that has the potential to turn the entire game on its head."

Ahead of Wednesday's episode, a theory has been shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, as to what the twist could be.

As posted by Super TV, a book on the shelf titled The Seer was shown during Friday's instalment and it looks like it was displayed for good reason.

They penned: "In the game 'Werewolf'... The Seer is arguably the most powerful and important Villager. The Seer targets a player, and the Moderator silently indicates whether that player is a Villager or a Werewolf.

"The Seer must then find a way to use that knowledge to help the Villagers, without becoming the next target themselves."

Werewolf is a social deduction game also widely known as Mafia and models a conflict between two opposing sides, the werewolves and the villagers.

The game has two phases, with the first being that whoever was assigned as the killers at the beginning, it's up to them to murder who they want.

The second phase has all surviving players trying to decide who murdered the others, opting to vote for suspects.

If The Seer isn't a red herring and it will in fact play a pivotal part in the game, Claudia may award one contestant the power to find out who the Traitors are.

It will then be their job to try and persuade the other Faithfuls about who the Traitors are but it all boils down to who is more persuasive in their approach.

After Friday's episode, fans rushed to X to speculate on what the twist could be as one commented: "Wait what's this extraordinary power Claudia mentioned in the preview for next week, she claims could turn the game on its head."

Someone else penned: "Imagine if the extraordinary power is to unbanish or resurrect a faithful #TheTraitorsUK."

While a third added: "Somebody else said: "Very curious about what this new twist is gonna be. I wonder if someone is gonna have a chance to learn who the Traitors are... #TheTraitors."

The Traitors continues on Wednesday night at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
