Call the Midwife fans open-mouthed as they spot iconic 2000s star on BBC show
Call the Midwife viewers were left gobsmacked after spotting an iconic star from the 2000s in the new episode.
The beloved long-running BBC show returned to screens on Sunday night (January 19). For the latest instalment, Rosalind (Natalie Quarry) was tasked to look after the care of first-time mum Norma (Alexa Davies) and husband Don (Garmon Rhys).
When she delivered their baby though, immediately realised that all was not right. And in a heartbreaking turn of events, Dr Turner (Stephen McGann) confirmed that the baby has a blister that is full of spinal fluid and that she has spina bifida.
When he told the parents they were upset that she would need an operation. Later on, the pair were caught packing their bags, and revealed they can’t give their daughter what she needs and want to put her in care.

A meeting with social services followed - which saw the social worker admit they don't have the resources to get involved - leaving the midwives at Nonnatus House heartbroken.
However, fans couldn’t help but recognise the social service worker as being none other than Lisa Coleman - who played Cam Lawson on CBBC’s Tracy Beaker series on and off from 2002 to 2023.
On X, one person penned: “OMG IT'S CAM FROM TRACY BEAKER”. Someone else added: “The irony of Cam being a horrid social worker, the irony isn’t lost on me.” A third wrote: “Wtf Cam?!”
Following the social services and parents turning their back on the baby - called June, the midwives were forced to contact the local orphanage and get them to take her in.
Elsewhere in the episode, a gas explosion at an apartment block shocked the community with Joyce Highland (Renee Bailey) at the centre of the drama.
Meanwhile, Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter) calls on Trixie Aylward's (Helen George) managerial skills when she attends a meeting with Dr Threapwood (Timothy Harker) to discuss the renewal of their contract with the council.
