Gogglebox star issued warning ahead of return to show amid fan concern
Gogglebox star Simon Minty has sparked concern about his return to the hit Channel 4 show, after some recent updates sharing his latest escapades away from TV. Simon, 56, has been sharing moments from his holiday in Barcelona with his fans, taking viewers further afield than his Gogglebox couch and exploring the sunny Spanish city. However, some fans are now wondering if his Spanish getaway might affect his return to Gogglebox.
The TV personality has starred on the hit Channel 4 show since 2021, alongside his sister, Jane Minty, with the hilarious, witty duo quickly becoming firm favourites among viewers. In one post, Simon wrote: “Enjoying my time in Barcelona. Spent the day in Sitges which was beautiful, calming, and sunny. Looking at beachfront properties, ready to move here haha. Spent time with friend and local Joan, who is showing me around. Had a fine lunch at La Fuga.” Alongside photos of the sunny coast, this post left fans impressed by the scenery - and worried, for other reasons.
The star also took to social media to address his recent ‘disappearance’ from the UK. Another post showed Simon enjoying some solo time in the city, with the TV star sharing: “Disappeared to Barcelona for a few days. Today I visited the Picasso Museum and took a wander, without a plan, to explore. Bought myself leather bracelets and some chocolate milk, traditions I’ve done since I first came here as a teenager.”

But the response from some fans revealed concerns about his return. One fan left a warning in the comments, noting Barcelona’s reputation for street crime: “Enjoy Simon - but beware of pickpockets. I suffered at their hands when I visited.”
It’s also made fans anxious about the possibility of him missing appearing on Gogglebox. One user wrote: “Make sure you are back to be on Gogglebox, please! Can’t have you missing in action.”
The recent floods in Spain have also added to their concerns. Another follower asked: “Did you have any issues with the floods? Flight delays or anything? We were leaving Valencia the day of the flooding. So sad driving through trying to get to the airport seeing all the carnage it had left behind.” With severe weather causing disruptions in the country, fans are hoping Simon’s journey home goes smoothly.
Back in the UK, the siblings film Gogglebox in Jane’s home in Surrey - which is filled with fresh flowers and pops of colour inside. The duo have also revealed their real-life jobs when they’re not filming Gogglebox - with the two having rather different careers.
