Gavin & Stacey's Laura Aikman shares massive secret about Smithy's wedding
Gavin & Stacey's Laura Aikman has shared a new secret about the Christmas Special's wedding day on social media. The beloved sitcom's final episode was aired on December 25 to an average audience of 12.3 million - the highest Christmas Day rating since 2008.
Following the show it was reported that Laura Aikman, who plays Smithy's Fiancée Sonia, was "hidden away" during filming in a bid to avoid a huge spoiler in the storyline, as fans gathered to try and catch a glimpse of the show's filming. Laura shared in a post that one of the viewers may have already worn Sonia's wedding dress, which was bought on Vinted to avoid spoilers. Sharing a picture in the garment, she wrote: "We couldn’t go wedding dress shopping (because of the secrecy), so this was from Vinted, (it probably belonged to someone who watched the show!)."
She went on to thank the show's costume designer and make-up artist for helping Laura transform into Sonia for the wedding scene. She wrote: "Shout out to our costume designer #ShanJames who had to alter it massively as 48 hrs before we shot the wedding it didn’t fit. Our formidable make up designer #marcuswhitney found me this amazing wig, yes IT’S A WIG. It was fitted & styled by gorgeous @alisonwebbxxmakeup who also did my make up and hid with me."
