Fresh updates on Dr Michael Mosley's death 5 months after his tragic accident
The family of Dr Michael Mosley are facing another wait for answers into the circumstances surrounding his death after he sadly passed away at the age of 67 in June this year. The weight loss expert had been on holiday in Greece when he went missing after leaving a beach and going for a walk in Symi.
After he failed to return, an extensive and high-profile search was started by rescue teams and local volunteers. Sadly, the TV presenter’s body was discovered four days later in a rocky area, not far from where he had been staying in Agia Marina.
Greek authorities initially said his death was as a result of natural causes, and, speaking to the BBC, a spokesperson for the Greek police revealed that an initial post-mortem examination showed no signs of injury on his body. The estimated time of death was around 4pm local time on Wednesday, after he had left his friends at Agios Nikolaos beach at approximately 1.30pm for a stroll.

However, in Britain an inquest is still to be held by the Buckinghamshire coroner. While Buckinghamshire Coroner's Court had initially said that an inquest into Michael’s death would be held on 14 November, this date has now been rescheduled for 16 January.
A notice on Buckinghamshire Coroner's website listed the new date and said: “Michael Hugh Mosley. Died 5 June 2024 in Greece. Home address, Beaconsfield. Aged 67 years," according to WalesOnline.
Following his passing, Michael’s wife shared an emotional statement in which she said that “he so very nearly made it.” She wrote: “My family and I have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love from people from around the world. It's clear that Michael meant a huge amount to so many of you. We're taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it. He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn't be easily seen by the extensive search team.”
Clare continued: “Michael was an adventurous man, it's part of what made him so special. We are so grateful to the extraordinary people on Symi who have worked tirelessly to help find him.
“Some of these people on the island, who hadn't even heard of Michael, worked from dawn till dusk unasked. We're also very grateful to the press who have dealt with us with great respect. I feel so lucky to have our children and my amazing friends. Most of all, I feel so lucky to have had this life with Michael. Thank you all.”
