After winery hopping, my second favorite thing to do in Napa Valley is spa hopping. On a recent vacation to the area I did exactly that, visiting more than seven (!) spas during the course of a seven day trip. Was this excessive? Sure, maybe. But as a beauty editor it's quite literally my job to seek out the best spots for facials, massages, body wraps, and spa services in any given area. So I did all the legwork for you and now? I present to you the four best Napa Valley hotel spas, according to moi. Keep reading for my full review of each spa, including the must-try treatment, notes on the vibe, and my overall rating.
Spa Solage, Solage Auberge Resorts Collection
Location: Calistoga, CA
Best for: Groups who want unpretentious chill time
Must-try treatment: Method by Augustinus Bader, a sculpting and firming facial
My review: This isn't the kind of spa that you just pop into for a treatment and then leave. It's the kinda of spa that you should plan to spend the entire day at so you can fully utilize all the amenities. The massive indoor/outdoor space (it's 20,000 square ft to be exact) has five different geothermal pools, a mud bar, an infrared sauna, a eucalyptus steam room, and more. If you're planning a girls' trip or bachelorette party to Napa, Spa Solage would be perfect place for everyone to hang out and experience some pampering—but without feeling like you need to whisper or tip-toe around since the atmosphere is relaxed. Treatment-wise, the number of facials on the menu is impressive. Hotel spa facials can be sort of basic, but the 11 different ones offered here will satisfy even the most skincare obsessed among us. I tried the Method by Augustinus Bader (for the uninitiated, AB is a super luxe skincare brand loved by celebs and editors) and was wowed by how dewy and lifted my skin looked post-treatment...despite being slightly hungover.

B Spa, Bardessono Hotel & Spa
Location: Yountville, CA
Best for: Couples who want an intimate, one-of-a-kind experience
Must-try treatment: A bespoke CBD massage
My review: Bardessono’s entire property oozes luxury spa vibes. From the water features to winding garden paths, it all reminds me of a zen Japanese garden. The spa itself is tiny but that’s because the hotel's guest rooms also serve as treatment rooms, meaning that when you book a service the therapist or aesthetician comes to you, creating the feel of your own personal spa (the perfect set-up for couples IMO). While I didn’t stay at Bardessono, I got the full experience and had a custom CBD massage in one of the spa suites. The treatment was terrific; my therapist spent the entire 60 minutes working on the knots in my neck and back, per my request, and I walked out of there tensionless and jello-y.

Napa Valley Spa Talisa, Four Seasons Napa Valley
Location: Calistoga, CA
Best for: Classic California luxury vibes
Must-try treatment: Talisa facial, a customized treatment to address any skin concern—from dehydration to acne
What to expect: If you're in need of true R&R, Spa Talisa should be the first stop on your wine country trip. It's an oasis for peace and quiet and the spa and surrounding scenery are truly stunning. Before or after your treatment, I highly suggest plopping yourself in one of comfy loungers by the outdoor pool to soak in the vineyard views and relax with a book and glass of champagne. And while you're outside head to the mud and sun area to DIY the Calistoga Mud Experience. You slather yourself in mineral-rich mud (not to worry, its more like pink clay) then let it harden in the sun. And after you rinse it off? Your skin legit feels like silk. Once you're inside, it's more peace and quiet and champagne and pampering—exactly what a spa should be.

MacArthur Spa, MacArthur Place
Location: Sonoma, CA
Best for: Wellness seekers
Must-try treatment: Sanctuary of Flowers, a 100 minute body and scalp treatment
My review: Okay, so MacArthur Place isn't technically in Napa—it's in nearby Sonoma—but I'm adding it to this list because I loved it. I highly suggest making MacArthur Place your home base for a Sonoma/Napa vacay (you can read my full review of the property here), but the spa is totally worth visiting for an afternoon too. Carve out time to relax in the outdoor garden and use the whirlpool and steam room, then book a bodywork treatment, many of which feature organic herbs and flowers grown locally on the property's garden.
