Floella Benjamin on five decades in TV
Patron of numerous children's charities (including vice-president of Barnardo's), member of the British Board of Film Classification's (BBFC) advisory panel on children's viewing, and a member of procession at King Charles's coronation; these are just some of the many highlights throughout Baroness Floella Benjamin's impressive career.
Indeed, there are few figures as versatile as the accomplished actress, producer and campaigner, Floella Benjamin.
The latest addition to her lengthy CV? A Bafta Fellowship, which she will receive at the Bafta TV awards ceremony on 12 May.
Ahead of the ceremony, Floella was pictured attending the Nominees' Party for the BAFTA Television Awards (in partnership with P&O Cruises and the BAFTA Television Craft Awards) at London's Victoria and Albert Museum.
For the occasion, Floella teamed a timeless white suit with silver boots and a glitzy sequin top. You could recreate Floella's effortlessly chic look with these kitten heel boots and cream suit.
In an interview with the BBC, Floella said she cried when she received the recognition from the British Academy. "Looking back at all my work in television over 50 years - remembering the joyful moments. Working with some incredible people. But also remembering the challenges," she added.
As for for future of television and the media landscape?
"We've got to ensure that we give high quality content for children wherever it's coming from," Floella said. "Whoever is serving them has got to realise the responsibility."
Reflecting on her career and fame spanning over five decades, Floella said: "I always take it with a sense of gratitude that I have been blessed to be in that kind of position, and to make people feel anything is achievable."
