'Facekinis' are the latest beauty trend in China

While Brits will bake themselves in the sun at any given opportunity, over in China, women will do anything to keep their bodies away from its rays.

Because while the beauty ideal over here in the UK is as-bronzed-as-possible nowadays, over in South East Asia, it’s being pale.

To protect themselves, many Chinese women go to extreme measures – wearing mirrored visors to cover their faces, carrying UV-blocking umbrellas at all times, and wearing ‘facekinis’ on the beach.

With the same amount of coverage as a burkini but with added coverage on the face (save room for eyes, noses and ears), facekinis might seem bizarre to bikini-clad Westerners but are pretty commonplace on strips of the Chinese coast.
