Exclusive: Hollyoaks star Erin Palmer on Ella Richardson's father mystery

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Erin Palmer has revealed that she's still in the dark over Ella Richardson's paternity mystery, ahead of another big week for the storyline.

Warren Fox has his world turned upside-down next week as he discovers that Ella believes he's her biological father.

Ella's theory comes to light after Warren and his mother Norma Crow host the teenager's sweet 16th birthday party at The Loft, leading to an immediate change in dynamics for the trio.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about Ella's ongoing search for her dad, Erin explained: "I was very excited when I found out about this storyline because his identity has never been revealed to me. I'm really looking forward to going on this journey with Ella.

"I think that Ella is feeling really hurt at the minute with everything that has happened. Just as life was seemingly getting better for her, it's all gone downhill again. Charlie has hurt Ella more than he realises because she trusts him with everything and now, she's very alone again.

"With Cindy, I think Ella is just very confused because of Cindy's mood swings and outbursts due to her bipolar. So now the two constant people in her life are gone and she's having to fight on her own."

Asked how Ella will feel if her dad doesn't turn out to be Warren, Erin replied: "I think that Ella is so convinced because she has used the process of elimination and has decided that it could only be him.

"Once Ella has set her mind on something, it is very hard to change her mind – she's very determined. At the end of the day, she just wants a family.

"I think it would be crushing for Ella if it doesn't turn out to be Warren, because I think she would just feel like no-one wants her. Everyone she was close to is pushing her away, so now she is just grasping at anyone to try and find an emotional connection.

"She believes in her whole heart that Warren is her dad, so if that is taken away from her then she will be really upset."

Whatever the outcome of the plot, Erin is currently sharing lots of screen time with Jamie Lomas, who plays the role of Warren.

She told us: "Jamie is the most wonderful person, and he is such a joy to be around. Working with him on this storyline has been amazing because I have gotten to pick up so many new tips and tricks from him.

"He also gives amazing advice and he has really helped to coach me through scenes that I was struggling with."

On whether the Hollyoaks writers have shared the official identity of Ella's father with her yet, Erin confirmed: "I have my suspicions on who it is, but no-one has confirmed his actual identity to me yet. I'm really excited to find out what the future holds for Ella and whoever her dad is.

"Keep watching and expect to see more drama revolving the pursuit of finding her biological father."
