Eva Longoria has revealed David Beckham is a “great cook” while sharing his secret ingredient for making the perfect Shepherd’s pie.

According to the Desperate Housewives actor, 45, it seems there is just no end to the former footballer’s talents.

As well as his skills on the pitch, as a devoted father to his four children and as someone widely regarded as one of the world’s most handsome men, it seems Beckham is also a bit of a whizz in the kitchen.

Longoria, who is a close friend of the Beckhams, appeared on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast, where she discussed how handy the father-of-four is when it comes to cooking.

Turns out Becks has shared his top tip for whipping up a perfect Shepherd’s pie with Longoria, and it involves something of a surprise ingredient.

“David’s a great cook,” Longoria said. “He didn’t teach me, but he told me the trick is ketchup.”

The actor went on to reveal that Becks is also pretty good at whipping up a classic Italian dish.

“He makes a good Bolognese,” she added. “He’s very much into cooking. You can see from his Instagram.

“Victoria always introduces me to new things, there were these crackers. I was like ‘what is it?’ She’s always hip to the newest healthy food.”

Beckham, 45, previously discussed his love of food and cooking during a 2017 appearance on Desert Island Discs.

The book he chose to be castaway with was cookery book ‘On Fire’ by Francis Mallmann.

The retired footballer has also shared videos of him cooking for the family.

In one previous clip, Beckham was seen preparing a beef stew for his wife, Victoria, and their four children – Brooklyn, 21, Romeo, 18, Cruz, 15, and nine-year-old Harper.

This time the dish was a special family recipe perfected by his mother Sandra, but there was another unusual ingredient - a whole can of Guinness poured in to make up the sauce.

Beckham’s kitchen skills aren’t limited to savoury dishes either, with the former footballer also partial to a spot of baking.

Last November Beckham shared some sweet footage of him baking Christmas-themed goodies with his nine-year-old daughter.

The former England captain posted a video clip showing a day spent in the kitchen with Harper, and asked celebrity chef pal Gordon Ramsay for cooking advice.

Captioning the clip, he wrote: “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas CHEF #HarperSeven @gordongram any tips?”

Ramsay, who enjoys a close family friendship with the Beckhams, responded: “MasterChef @davidbeckham 2021.”

As well as cooking, Beckham has also been spending time in lockdown honing another hobby.

Taking a break from the kitchen, the former professional footballer has been practicing the Chinese sport of Jianzi.

Sharing a video to Instagram of him trying to perfect his new skills, Beckham explained he’s discovered a real love for the game.

“Practising Jianzi for the first time, I love it,” he wrote. “Thanks to my fans in China for getting me into this new game.”
