Emma Stone's stylish approach to the sheer trend is genius
It's impossible to escape the sheer trend this season, even if you wanted to (which, with a little help from our fashion director, we now don't). But Emma Stone has just given us a fresh take on the ubiquitous celebrity 'naked dresses', wearing a gauzy, chevron-print poncho dress over a high-neck black bodysuit on the New York Film Festival red carpet.
The Oscar-winning actor turned heads with her Louis Vuitton look, which debuted on the runway during Paris Fashion Week only a few days ago, styled in the same way with the bodysuit briefly visible on her right side. Knots at the forearms gave some grounding to the floaty gown, leaving ribbons trailing towards the floor in true boho-chic fashion.
Emma accessorised her stylish ensemble with strappy black heels with on-trend peep toes, and a long, layered gold charm necklace that again felt very Seventies. She kept her makeup fresh and dewy, with a smokey eye, peach blusher and a stronger rosy lip. Her dark auburn hair was worn loose in soft waves.
Emma was attending the film festival to promote her new movie, A Real Pain, which she has produced in partnership with her husband, Dave McCary. The film, directed by Jesse Eisenberg and starring Kieran Culkin and Jennifer Grey, tells the story of two 'mismatched cousins' who reunite to tour Poland in honour of their grandmother.
Back to the fashion, and we've been loving the recent A-list inspiration for how to nail sheer without revealing more skin than you may be comfortable with, a la Kate Moss at Saint Laurent's SS25 show last month. The model opted for a sheer black tulle dress under a black velvet blazer – a look we'll certainly be copying this upcoming party season.
