Emily Atack gives birth! Inbetweeners star welcomes baby boy and shares adorable first pic
Emily Atack has announced the arrival of her first child. The actress and comedian has welcomed a baby son with her boyfriend Dr Alistair Garner, and shared the happy news on social media with fans.
Inbetweeners star Emily, 35, posted a sweet black and white photograph of her and Alistair cradling their newborn son together. She excitedly told fans on Instagram: "We have a beautiful son. Barney James Garner. All my dreams have come true."
The new mum, who shared news of her pregnancy in January, was inundated with congratulatory messages and well wishes from her followers, including fellow celebrities.
Lisa Snowdon penned: "Oh darling Em! Yay! Congratulations to you both. Loads of love and welcome to the world little Barney." Stacey Dooley said: "Yesyesyesyesyesyesyes," with a red heart emoji.
"CONGRATULATIONS GUYS WE LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH," Chloe Madeley added, while Sara Davies said: "Congratulations lovely!" Singer Ashley Roberts wrote: "Aww congrats Ems!!!" with a heart emoji.
Rylan commented: "Congrats you two xx," and Vicky Pattison said: "Congratulations you guys."
Emily shared her pregnancy with fans in January and continued to document her experiences on social media with fans. She then revealed she was having a baby boy during an interview on Loose Women, where she also spoke about her symptoms and feelings about being a new mum.
Telling the stars of Loose Women about how she had been finding the pregnancy, she said: "It’s not a barrel of laughs is it?! It’s so exciting, it’s very, very hard but I feel extremely connected to my body in ways that I’ve never been before. I used to get told off by my friends for not looking after myself enough and staying up too late and all of that and now I’m like, ‘No, my body is a vessel’. It’s so important that I get an early night and I’m really looking after myself."
She revealed she had "every single symptom" that came with pregnancy. "I’ve had a blow up, not a glow up! Everyone’s saying, ‘Oh you’re going to be in your glow up era, you’ll be in the gym doing pilates’ [but] I’m like a hen sitting on an egg! I haven’t moved. No, it’s incredible, it’s amazing and I’m so excited."
Emily is believed to have started dating Alistair - who is a scientist - last year. The couple, who have known each other for several years, have largely kept their romance under wraps.
