Duchess of Cambridge rocks crimson Marchesa Notte midi dress for a night at the theatre

Last night saw the Duchess of Cambridge turn up to the opening night of West End musical, 42nd Street.

The royal style icon arrived in a stand-out burgundy dress by Marchesa Notte featuring a honeycomb print and layers of tulle in a midi-length style.

Kate kept the red shade going throughout her entire look, choosing £450 Gianvito Rossi stilettos and her trusty Mulberry Bayswater clutch to accessorise.

Statement pom pom earrings from Kate Spade added a fashion-forward edge that is unexpected from the Duchess. Kate’s red style is currently unavailable but you can buy a different colour for £88.

Unfortunately, the Kate effect has meant that her £1,105 Marchesa Notte gown is now sold out. The claret hue was seen all over the AW17 runways, demonstrating the Duchess’s ever-increasing knowledge of trends.

Marchesa Notte is the New York-based brand’s less expensive line. Strangely enough, designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig expressed their desire for the Duchess to wear one of their elegant designs in a recent interview.

“We would love to dress her,” they told Hello! “We like to think of every gown [for] someone to feel like they are [Kate]. You want to feel regal when you put on a beautiful gown.”

The 42nd Street musical is in partnership with the Nook Appeal; a hospice facility at East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices. Kate has been a royal patron of EACH since 2012 and attended the event to boost fundraising that will allow the hospice to extend its space in Norfolk.

She was invited to join the cast on stage at the end where she was presented with her very own pair of tap shoes.
