The Duchess of Cambridge could give birth to her third child on St George’s day and give the country a patriotic boost in the process.

The 36-year-old royal is expecting her third child with her husband Prince William and rumours are rife baby number three could put in an appearance on 23rd April, the same day the nation celebrates the patron saint of England.

Whispers started swirling about the Duchess’ due date after a royal source revealed the baby was due “around the 23rd of April”.

Speaking to The Sun the source revealed: “There’s no certainty with due dates of course but the Duchess is working off a date around St George’s Day and it would be a lovely patriotic coincidence if he or she were born then.”

They went on to point out that if the royal couple do have a second son on that day, he won’t be named George as that name is obviously already taken!

If the Duchess is overdue, she could go on to give birth on her wedding anniversary on 29 April, the source continued.

The due date isn’t the only detail that has been revealed about the forthcoming royal baby.

According to insiders the Duchess is also thought to be considering having a home birth for baby number three.

The pregnant royal has reportedly told friends that she would “love” to have the new baby at either Kensington Palace in London or Anmer Hall in Norfolk, The Express revealed.

Kate delivered her first two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington and although both births were relatively stress-free, the Duchess would prefer to give birth at home to avoid the media chaos that went alongside them.

Although both of Kate’s births have been straightforward, her pregnancies have seen her suffer from extreme morning sickness, hyperemesis gravidarum.

Shortly after announcing her third pregnancy last August, the Duchess was forced to take some time off from royal duties, and even had to miss Prince George’s first day of school in September because she was too poorly to take him.

Although it isn’t known if the Duke and Duchess are expecting a boy or a girl, rumours have been rife that the couple are set to welcome a second daughter and the chances are, the royal couple may name her Mary.

According to several reports, Paddy Power and Betfair have suspended bets on the next royal child’s gender after a ‘flurry of bets’ have been placed on the moniker, Mary.

Over at Ladbrokes, the betting firm has slashed the chances of Mary to 7/1 from a previous 20/1.

Princess Alice was originally the betting firm’s first choice but the moniker has now fallen to second place (alongside Victoria) with odds of 8/1.

In terms of male names, Albert and Arthur are currently sitting pretty at joint top of the leaderboard with odds of 12/1.

A Paddy Power spokesman said: “We thought everyone was only talking about the royal wedding, until someone came along with a right royal bet on Kate and Wills’s third child.”

They continued, “We’re convinced now that it’ll be a little girl, with Mary now four times more likely after today’s betting.”

The Duchess showcased her growing bump at Meghan Markle’s official royal working debut alongside alongside her fiance Prince Harry and the Duchess’ husband Prince William.

The foursome were making an appearance at the first ever Royal Foundation Forum, which is set to become an annual event.

And last week people were concerned that the pregnant royal stepped out in a snowstorm without a coat.

The Duchess braved the beast from the east to attend to visit exhibition showcasing pioneering Victorian-era photographs at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
