Prince George arrives for his first day at school
A nervous-looking Prince George was seen arriving for his first day at school this morning.
The four-year-old royal was seen clutching Prince William’s hand as he entered the playground of Thomas’s Battersea.
His mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, was nowhere to be seen. A statement from Kensington Palace said that Kate had hoped to be there but “remains unwell.”
The Duchess is currently suffering from extreme morning sickness due to her third pregnancy which was announced on Monday.
Prince George looked incredibly smart in his school uniform which consisted of a blue jumper, Bermuda shorts and slip-on black shoes.
William and George met with the head of the lower school, Helen Haslem, at the gates before being taken into the classroom.
George will be in a class of up to 22 children and will spend just half a day at school on his first day.
This morning, he will spend time getting to know his new teacher and classmates.
If William and Kate are a little nervous about leaving their firstborn, the school has promised to make new parents “feel secure”, providing them with a drinks reception, handbook and workshops so they can see what their child is learning. Parents are also invited to watch lessons on occasion.
Kensington Palace today announced that the royal will be known as George Cambridge to his classmates, answering the age-old question of what George and Charlotte’s last name would be.
