'Dimpleplasty' is the latest plastic surgery trend
Usually, one undergoes plastic surgery to get rid of lumps, bumps and lines.
But not the latest cosmetic trend which involves creating them.
Dimpleplasty – creating dimples in your face – is gaining popularity among millennials according to one surgeon.
Wright Jones, a plastic surgeon based in Atlanta, US, told Allure that it’s become a common request in the last few years with inquiries almost tripling.

Jones says this is thanks to Dimpleplasty’s “little downtime, enhancement of facial aesthetics, and lack of need for general anesthesia”:
It apparently takes around 30 minutes depending on the patient’s anatomy and involves making an incision inside their mouth “where a defect is created in the cheek muscle, known as the buccinator,” Jones explains.
“The muscle is then attached to the undersurface of the skin so that the dimples are seen upon animation, but not when the face is relaxed,” Jones added.

After the treatment, semi-permanent dimples, swelling and soreness will remain for around one-to-two months before eventually settling – leaving an indentation only visible when smiling.
But it’s still quite a risky procedure; Jones warned that it can lead to deformities that are very hard to correct:
“Dimples could be overly dramatic, appear underwhelming, look unnatural, disappear with time, or even be located in the wrong place,” Jones explained.
So if you’re happy to take that risk and be $800 (£620) to $2,500 (£1900) out of pocket, well, you could be one step closer to looking like Miranda Kerr.
