Dan Walker tells Strictly fans 'give your head a wobble' over Chris McCausland win
TV presenter Dan Walker has said people unhappy with the outcome of the 2024 Strictly Come Dancing final need to ‘give their heads a wobble’. Chris McCausland and his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell were crowned winners in Saturday night’s final, bringing the curtain down on an emotional journey for comedian McCausland.
Some viewers were left disgruntled, voicing their concerns over an “unfair” decision during the live final. Many viewers questioned the inclusion of a particular dance in the final, arguing that it was too similar to the show dance and that other couples had comparatively “harder” routines with “tougher” styles. McCausland is the first blind contestant to ever win the Strictly title and some people accused the decision of being “woke”, given his disability. But presenter and former Strictly contestant, Dan Walker took to Instagram on Sunday and said: I’ve seen a few people saying this is ‘woke win’. Give your head a wobble. If you can’t see the joy in this then I’m afraid you are the blind one."

Channel 5 news host Walker took part in the BBC show back in 2021 and was 11th out along with professional partner, Nadyia Bychkova.
After lifting the Glitterball trophy, Chris commented: “It’s astonishing, I don’t know what to say. I thought I would go out in the first week or two. We have lasted and lasted and she has got so much out of me, she deserves this so much.
“This is for her (Buswell) and for everyone out there who thought... who got told they couldn’t do something or thought they couldn’t do it. With opportunity and support and determination anything can happen.”
Strictly Come Dancing remains one of the most popular shows on British TV. On Saturday night the 2024 final was watched by a peak audience of 9.6m people, with an average audience of 8.6m.
