Cynthia Erivo Just Revealed Ariana Grande's Secret On-Set 'Addiction'
After feverish anticipation and one hell of a press tour, Wicked: Part One has finally been released to rapturous applause. Not only did it have the top-grossing opening weekend of any Broadway musical adaptation ever in the UK, but it also proliferated on social media and spawned a sea of memes (anybody else still holding space for the lyrics of 'Defying Gravity'?) Make no mistake: this is the film that came to define 2024.
While filming the mega musical, Cynthia Erivo, who stars as Elphaba in the adaptation, admitted that the most random fact she gleaned about her co-star, Ariana Grande, is how much she loves playing games on her iPad. 'One of the games she [Grande] plays is Farmland. She is addicted,' Erivo told ELLE UK when she sits down for a game of Knowing Me, Knowing You. 'It's that and Monopoly online. She will keep playing those everyday, it's actually really interesting. She's been playing them for years, I need you all to know that. And it's wonderful, because it brings her such joy.'

After unsuccessfully guessing that the Wicked co-star who graduated from New York University with a degree in Microbiology was, in fact, Bowen Yang — 'I'm so in awe of my castmates here' — Erivo admitted that if she wasn't a Tony, Emmy and Grammy award-winning actor, she'd be a teacher or a therapist.
While her castmate Jonathan Bailey's dream role is Rum Tum Tugger in Cats — which she guessed correctly — Erivo's is less definitive. 'This is definitely one of the dream roles, but I don't know if another dream role has been written just yet,' she said.
From revealing how long the Wicked choreography really took to learn (spoiler alert: in some cases it took months) to more behind-the-scenes secrets from the set of this year's biggest film spectacle, you can watch the rest of Cynthia Erivo’s Knowing Me, Knowing You above.
