Coronation Street in huge schedule shake-up as truth about Lauren's disappearance is uncovered

Coronation Street have just dropped a brand-new promo revealing viewers will very soon find out what really happened to Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). The ITV soap is screening a week of special episodes rather than the usual three to uncover what happened to Lauren, and where she is now.

The first four episodes see different characters reliving the same day revealing new details each time before the finale on Friday 31 May where the truth is revealed.

The new trailer shows clips of Lauren in her flat crying ‘help’ and trying to escape when a gloved hand is put over her mouth.

The teen went missing in mid-February after being sacked from Roys Rolls. And the owner of the cafe Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is currently behind bars after being arrested for Lauren’s murder.

The episode on Monday 27 May will follow Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), who is determined to get rid of her daughter’s ex-abuser Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) from the cobbles.

With Bethany threatening to leave Weatherfield, Sarah is determined to prove that Nathan is behind Lauren’s disappearance, whatever the stakes.

The following episode follows Carla Connor (Alison King) and Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll), who are under pressure, accused of perverting the course of justice as they desperately try to clear Roy’s name. And DS Swain is determined to find the culprit.

On Wednesday 29 May, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) fights for justice for Roy who is in danger as far right activist Griff (Michael Condron) lands back in Weatherfield prison.

During the following episodes, the stakes are high for Roy as Griff corners him in prison and demands to know what he did to Lauren. As Roy’s life hangs in the balance, an invaluable piece of evidence which could clear the innocent cafe owner’s name will come to light in a shocking revelation for the viewers.

Finally on Friday, the mystery of Lauren’s fate will finally be unravelled. But will the police arrest the right person?

Executive Producer of Coronation Street Iain MacLeod said: “This week is so gripping and unlike anything Coronation Street has done before, in terms of the story-telling. It’s modern, really exciting and has some of our favourite characters right in the middle of the drama."

Iain continued: “The murder mystery around Lauren has had us all on the edge of our seats and the race against time across this week to solve it before Roy gets seriously hurt is so engrossing and cleverly plotted. It is also the launchpad for a massive new chapter in that narrative - so you really won’t want to miss it, if you want to carry on trying to piece together this thrilling puzzle!”
