We’re reviving the 20th-century dazzle of the newsstand with a dose of tropical glamour. Hearst Magazines, the parent company of Town & Country, has partnered with The Colony Palm Beach and interior designer Matthew Carter to create the property’s new Poolside Press. Sunbathers can kick back on chaises and enjoy luxe amenities like fresh towels, infused water, and—yes!—the latest issues of Elle, Elle Décor, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar, Town & Country, and Veranda.

The reimagined cabana counter, overlooking The Colony’s iconic Florida-shaped pool, is a fresh take on traditional newsstands with a delightful twist of gilded age nostalgia. As a part of the Poolside Press, guests will receive a magazine menu upon settling by the pool, allowing them to easily select from the curated collection of Hearst’s Fashion & Luxury titles. To a soundtrack of live music, the setting is like a sophisticated step back in time into a Slim Aarons photograph. “This collaboration pays homage to that glamorous era while infusing a sense of high fashion to create a unique poolside experience for our guests,” said Sarah Wetenhall, owner and CEO, The Colony Hotel Palm Beach.

Carter brought his signature blend of Southern hospitality with tropical flair to the cabana’s redesign. “We loved reimagining this space, infusing it with a fresh vibrancy that not only complements the iconic style of the hotel but also reinforces the fact that at The Colony, there’s always something beautiful to look at, no matter where you turn,” he says.

Set on the southwest corner of the pool deck, the Poolside Press’s fashion-forward design features custom treillage by Fuller Architectural Panels atop the hotel’s signature pink backdrop. Shining behind the counter, a 12-cover rattan magazine wall showcases the hand-picked selection of Hearst’s Fashion & Luxury titles. Indulging in a glossy within a tropical paradise—what could be chicer than that?

“We are excited to partner with The Colony Hotel, beloved for its glamorous setting and top-notch design collaborations, on this innovative adaptation of the newsstand, so that guests will have the chance to enjoy the very best from Hearst Magazines in the most luxurious way,” says Veranda Editor in Chief Steele Marcoux.

In true Pink Paradise fashion, the reading material is as intoxicating as the social scene. For pool-goers wishing to bring home a memento of their fashionable experience, copies of the featured magazines will be available for purchase at the hotel’s Pink Paradise Café.
