Although Clinique's Black Honey Lipstick originally launched over 50 years ago in 1971, it resurfaced on TikTok last year and went super viral, with the hashtag #cliniqueblackhoney generating over 300 million views.
The subtle berry lipstick is designed to suit everyone and following its recent success Clinique has introduced Pink Honey — the same lipstick, but in a brand-new shade.
To mark the occasion, I decided to get my hands on the latest shade to 1) see what all the fuss was about, and 2) determine whether the make-up line *had* in fact created something just as good as the original.
The same famous formula as Clinique's viral Black Honey, in a new suits-all soft pink hue.
With so many variations, shades and styles on the market, it can be difficult to pin down the perfect shade of lipstick. I'm not lying when I say it has taken me years to figure out what suits me and what doesn't. So when Clinique once again described this lipstick as boasting a "suits-all soft pink hue", I couldn't help but be dubious. But, then again, I was already a huge fan of its predecessor.
💸Reasons to buy
Living up to the hype, this lippy applies seamlessly, it has that almost-lipstick, almost-lipgloss premium feel, and really does provide the ultimate pink-nude hue. And I for one, haven't been able to stop wearing it.
A few swipes over the lips is enough to give you just enough visible pigment to achieve the pink-nude lip.
It works by infusing a transparent pigment with an a emollient-rich formula, which glides onto the lips and merges with your natural tone, before transforming into a gorgeous shade of pink.
The angled tip of the lipstick makes it very easy to apply, and it comes in a slimline lipstick holder featuring a classic adjustable bottom. I also love how long the stem of this lipstick is, as it helps with concise application.
I particularly like the balm-like finish this lipstick has, especially as someone who's lips can get dry quite easily.
As for wear throughout the day, I do find myself reapplying just as I do with most other lipsticks I own — particularly when I've had a full day of eating and drinking.
Clinique Black Honey vs Clinique Pink Honey — how does it compare?
Essentially they're exactly the same, just in a different shade.
Clinique say: "This beautiful hue promises the same addictive texture and easy layered of its predecessor, offering a unique fusion between balm and gloss."
I can confirm that both shades are universally flattering. As someone with an olive skin tone, I love the way both look and sit on my lips.
As expected, Clinique's Pink Honey is a lot sheerer than its darker counterpart, Black Honey. But both have completely different pigments of colour. Pink Honey is a lot, well, pinker — while Black Honey has more of a purplish, berry hue. I reckon these are both great staples to have in your locker of lippies.

✋Reasons to avoid
If you're not so much a fan of a more natural, understated look, and prefer something bolder and more full coverage, then this lipstick isn't the one for you.
Otherwise, I can't think of any other reason as to why you shouldn't add this to your arsenal of everyday lippies.
