Would you end your relationship if your partner didn't get you a Christmas present?

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year - as long as you remember to buy all the presents you need to, that is.

Yet, a new survey has found that a third of Brits (30%) have forgotten to buy Christmas gifts in the past, with 6% admitting they had forgotten to buy a Christmas present for their partner.

Nearly one in 10 people (9%) added that they would consider breaking up with their partner if they forgot to buy them a Christmas present.

The top reasons people gave for forgetting to buy a gift for their partner included finding it hard to get organised in time (6%), too busy working over the Christmas period (5%), missing the last Christmas delivery slot (3%), and forgetting what their partner wanted (2%).

The YouGov survey of 2,288 adults was commissioned by delivery app Zapp and found that 18% of people confessed to buying their own present for the festive season as they did not trust their partner to organise a gift for them in time.

A further 28% of respondents said they leave Christmas shopping until the last minute, dashing to the shops on December 23 or Christmas Eve. However, 40% said they find the selection of gifts available last minute as “disappointing”.

Almost half of respondents (52%) admit that they buy their gifts online, while a third have said they buy a second gift last-minute after realising their first gift would not arrive on time.
