Turkey may be a traditional Christmas dinner centrepiece, but it can often be expensive to buy.

This is because the bird sees a spike in demand at Christmas, as shoppers rush to buy a turkey to complete their Christmas Day feast – and this year turkey prices are higher than ever.

New data from The Grocer has revealed that the price of a fresh turkey has risen by as much as 45% in 2022 due to shortages caused by the bird flu outbreak, which wiped out 1.6 million birds across the UK.
