Cat Deeley's 'unique' appearance on This Morning leaves viewers distracted

During Wednesday's episode of the beloved ITV programme, hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard chatted about the perks of staying in shape.

ITV's Cat Deeley shared that recent findings suggest weightlifting is top-notch for maintaining fitness into your golden years. The conversation turned to Melanie Lester, a 70-year-old powerhouse who snagged a gold for Team GB at the European Women's Masters Classic Powerlifting Championships.

As Melanie geared up to showcase her impressive lifting skills, This Morning's audience couldn't help but zone in on Cat's footwear choice.

Presenters are typically seen from the waist up, leaving their lower halves off-camera, but this time, Cat's black gladiator sandals made an unexpected appearance, reports the Express.

One viewer couldn't hide their reaction: "I'm sorry but Cat Deeley's sandals!" While another bluntly commented: "Cat's sandals are just vile."

A third chimed in with: "What's Cat got on her feet..." and another was puzzled, asking: "Who dressed Cat?" There was a lighter note from someone who joked: "Much talk about Cat's sandals so I've had to have a look."

Yet, not everyone was critical; one fan defended: "Everyone being mean about Cat's lovely sandals... I like them #thismorning." Curiosity piqued for another who pleaded: "Show us Cats sandals I want to make judgement!"

Amidst the footwear frenzy, the presenters discovered that Melanie boasts a formidable 130kg deadlift record.

Cat probed Ben Shephard about his lifting limits, leading to his admission: "I can't do 130!" To which a surprised Cat responded with a playful jab: "You can't?! Even with those guns?" Ben went on to explain that his weight training regimen is crucial for his back health.

He said: "I have to be very careful of not trying to go too far. Although, I'll be more tempted now I know that Melanie is doing 130 kilos!" The banter continued as they watched Melanie, the 70 year old weightlifting wonder, effortlessly lift 100kg, prompting applause and an impressed comment from Cat: "Melanie! Absolutely incredible."

When asked for advice for seniors hesitant to start weightlifting, Melanie encouraged, "Any age start! It's not the weights that you do, it's just getting started, learning to do the form correctly and the sky's the limit."

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
