No one is invincible to the risks of getting of skin cancerNot even Hollywood celebrities such as Caitlyn Jenner, it turns out.

The transgender activist – father to Kendall and Kylie Jenner – recently shared a graphic photo of herself after undergoing treatment for skin damage.

Warning her fans about the importance of wearing sunscreen, the reality star took to Instagram following the removal of some “sun damage” on her nose.

“I recently had to get some sun damage removed from my nose,” she wrote.

“PSA [public service announcement] – always wear your sunblock!

And she’s been flooded with get well soon messages by her followers, one writing:

“You poor thing a friend had the same op same location. Rest up you still look beautiful xox.”

Another commented: “Still beautiful Cait. hope you heal fast.”

It’s thought to be basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer.

Accounting for almost 75% of skin cancers, according to the NHS website a basal cell carcinoma appears as a small, shiny pink or pearly-white lump at first with a translucent or waxy appearance.

Alternatively, it can look like a red, scaly patch and there’s sometimes brown or black pigment within it.

Eventually, it gets bigger, and might become crusty or bleed.

But importantly – thankfully for Jenner – it’s not a melanoma, which can be much more serious.
