Bride 'Upset' After She Plans Disney World Bachelorette Party, but None of Her 7 Bridesmaids Go
"I understand the state of the world we are in financially but it feels like none of them pulled through to support me with this," the bride wrote
A recent bride was shocked that her bridal party wouldn't go with her to the "Most Magical Place on Earth."
In a Reddit post on the Subreddit r/weddingshaming, user AntiqueSympathy1999 shared a screenshot they saw on a wedding group Facebook page for planning weddings on a budget for the online forum to discuss.
In the post, a bride asked for advice, saying they planned for their bachelorette trip in Disney World. She also said she gave her bridal party a heads-up about costs, but none of them are going on the trip.
"I feel super disappointed because this is the one time [I'm] getting married and doing this. I understand the state of the world we are in financially but it feels like none of them pulled through to support me with this. Am I wrong for feeling upset?" she asked.
Fellow Redditors shared their thoughts, with many siding against the bride, saying she was asking too much of her bridesmaids between time and money.
"People don’t want to spend their hard earned money and vacation days focused on another person on that other person’s dream vacation," one user wrote.
"The 7 bridesmaids are only required to provide support at the wedding," another wrote. "These ridiculously expensive bachelorette and bachelor trips need to stop."
Someone else agreed, asking: "How is not attending a bachelorette party they can’t afford or don’t want to pay for, being unsupportive?"
Others pointed out the novelty of Disney World itself, noting that a theme park trip may not be relaxing or fun for everyone going — or affordable. "Disney is SOOOO expensive. I'd want to experience it with my SO and my kids, not a bunch of bridesmaids I probably barely know," another user added.

"No offense intended to anyone but a bachelorette at Disney sounds like absolute hell. The lines. The crowds. The bride wants to go on the Frozen ride AGAIN. Just… too much," another said.
Someone else noted that the price for them to go to Disney was $3,000. "An absolutely absurd amount for a bride to expect people to spend on a party celebrating herself. Whatcha bet they were also expected to buy matching outfits for each day and cover all of the bride's expenses?"
One Redditor said that expecting people to spend multiple days on a bachelorette party, and then the rehearsal dinner and wedding, didn't seem normal.
"Money aside, why is it normal for people to have to use up all their PTO for someone else’s wedding? Just because you see people post about it, doesn’t mean it’s normal," they wrote.
