Tensions often run high among the bridal party over who is in charge of the hen do or which dresses will suit everyone.

But one bride has caused fury among her eight bridesmaids for a very unusual reason.

In a post on Reddit, a poster - who is friends with one of the group - revealed how the woman demanded that they all stand at exactly the same height on her wedding day.

Specifically, they all have to be be 5'10.5".

Initially, the bride, who is 5’11”, asked that nobody be taller than her.

The friend wrote: "So, one of my good friends is 5'10" and her cousin is getting married. Now, said cousin is 5'11" and apparently has some weird height issue.

"She starts by telling my friend and her other seven bridesmaids that no one can be taller than her, and she'll be wearing two inch heels, so prepare appropriately."

Her pal - who she called 'L' - had therefore decided to wear flats under her dress.

But then a few months later the bride-to-be insisted they should all now be exactly 5'10.5" for her marriage.

"Since L is 5'10", everyone must be exactly 5'10" and a half (apparently the hell on her flats give her half an inch and the bride thinks that's a big enough deal to warrant addressing the extra half inch)," the writer continued.

However, this proved an issue for one of the shortest bridesmaids.

"The issue? One of the other bridesmaids, her high school best friend, is 5'3",” she explained.

"That's right, this girl needs 7.5 inch heels."

The shorter bridesmaid and the poster’s friend fought back, and the bride criticised them for not following “her vision”.

"She's complained about how horrible short bridesmaid is for making a big deal about it," she added.

"As of yesterday, she told L AND short bridesmaid that they were ruining her day and that one of them had to drop out of the wedding party.

"She [said she] would let them decide which of them were a real friend to her and which of them was a fake friend."

Reddit users rushed to encourage both women to forgo bridesmaid duties.

One person wrote: "I just googled 7 inch heels. How are people able to wear those??

"They look massively uncomfortable and it literally looks like you’re walking around on your tippy toes."

Another commented: "I hope both leave the wedding party. It's impossible to find 7inch heels that aren't plateau."

A third shared: "Yeah, real friends don't ask you to stand up in 7" platforms for at least an hour."

And a fourth pointed out: "Is it just me or would it look v weird for everyone to be the exact same height and the bride an inch or two taller..."
