The body of a missing British man has reportedly been found at the entrance to a Lanzarote natural park. The holidaymaker, who hasn’t been named, is believed to have become lost while hiking in the south of the island, though police are yet to make an official comment, the Mirror reports.

It’s reported that the body was found at the entrance to Los Ajaches. Los Ajaches is a natural park located in the south western region of Lanzarote. According to reports, the body was found between two beaches - Playa Mujeres, known for its white sand, and Playa de Las Coloradas, which is to the east of Playa Blanca.

The publication reports that Civil Guard officers visited the scene as well as Civil Protection officers. Local police employed by Yaiza Town Hall, which is the municipality that Playa Blanca is a part of, also went to the scene. It’s expected that police will release more details tomorrow (Monday, 16 September).

It comes after the equally tragic news that the body of 19 year old Jay Slater was found in Tenerife 29 days after he fell to his death in a mountainous region of Tenerife on Monday, 17 June. An autopsy discovered that he had died from head injuries which were likely caused by a fall.

After 29 days, Jay's body was found on Monday, 15 July in a ravine close to where his phone last pinged a phone tower. A post mortem conducted in the UK confirmed that Jay had died from traumatic head injuries, consistent with a "fall from height".

In an emotional tribute, Jay's family described Jay as being a "loving son" as they opened up about his love for football. "At the young age of five Jay started playing football for Huncoat United FC until the age of 17 and also did a few seasons with the Sunday team at St Joesph's too," it read.

"He also loved spending time chilling out with his friends. Jay's love of music and dance started at a very young age. He loved attending music festivals and events across the country and also loved to socialise and meet new people. Jay will be very sadly missed by all those who knew him."

On Saturday, 10 August, Jay's friends and attended his funeral and were asked to wear something blue.
