Billy Ray Cyrus files for temporary restraining order against estranged wife after '£77k credit card spend'
Despite tying the knot just last year, it looks like things are well and truly over for musician Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife, Firerose as the 62 year old has asked for a temporary restraining order.
The country singer has sought to stop Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, from using his credit cards after she allegedly racked up $96,986 (£77K) in unauthorised charges over a few weeks.
Now, just weeks after filing for divorce, Billy Ray has filed for an emergency motion at a Tennessee court on Thursday, 13 June, seeking a temporary restraining order. This is reportedly in a bid to prevent his estranged wife from any "unauthorised" use of his personal and business credit cards and accounts.
According to reports, Billy Ray - who is dad to Miley, Noah Cyrus, Christopher Cody, Trace and Braison Cyrus - has filed claims that 37-year-old Firerose spent nearly $100K across 37 unauthorised charges on his business account, including $70,665 (£55K) in payments to her lawyers.
In an affidavit, which was obtained by People Magazine, Billy Ray wrote: "As a result of these fraudulent charges... I am concerned that Ms. Hodges is in possession of other information that she may use to make fraudulent, unauthorized charges to my business and personal credit cards and accounts."
It seems that the singer alleges the payments began on the day he applied for a divorce nearly seven months after they were wed. However Firerose's lawyers have responded that she was continuing to live as she had during their marriage.
In response, Firerose's legal team wrote: "To claim Wife has made 37 unauthorized charges is untrue. Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage. Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off."
The Achy Breaky Heart singer got married to Firerose back in October 2023 and the pair took to Instagram to share the news by posting a joint statement alongside a series of snaps from the special occasion.
Captioning the snaps, they wrote: "10/10/23 will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony. It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined."
They continued: "For both of us to hear the preacher say, "Billy Ray and Firerose Cyrus... I now pronounce you husband and wife" that was the sacred moment our new forever began. Long Live Love!"
However, things didn't last long as according to documents obtained by TMZ, Billy Ray listed their date of separation as being Wednesday, 22 May.
