The ‘Lemonade’ star and her husband, Jay-Z have been dabbling in the vegan lifestyle for some time now.
Before Coachella last year, Beyoncé announced her commitment to the plant-based diet with an Instagram photo featuring a plate of artful avocado toast.
In the caption, she prompted fans to join the meal-delivery service 22 Days Nutrition, the company co-created by Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and celebrity trainer Marco Borges, based on Borges’s book The 22-Day Revolution.
The diet offers organic, vegan, soy-and-gluten-free delivered meals.
Today on her Instagram, Beyoncé urged her fans to consider adopting a full or partial vegan diet, by offering Beyhivers who take up the challenge the chance to win tickets to either her or Jay Z’s concerts for life. (Well, for a maximum of thirty years, but still!)

The competition is being launched in support of the Greenprint Project, which has the viewpoint that adopting plant-based meals can have a positive impact on the environment – reducing carbon emissions, saving water, and conserving resources.
“The benefits of a single plant-based meal a day can have such a profound impact on our health and the environment, spanning from cutting carbon emissions to conserving water,” Beyoncé and Jay-Z said in a statement.
“We want to challenge you as we challenge ourselves to move towards a more plant-based lifestyle and acknowledge you for standing up for your health and the health of the planet.”
As proof of their commitment to a more plant-based diet, Beyoncé has said she is adopting meat-free Mondays and eating plant-based breakfasts, while Jay-Z said two of his daily meals will be plant-based.
If initial response to the competition is anything to go by we could be seeing a whole new lot of vegan converts with more than 600K liking the Instagram post so far.
Even if you don’t consider yourself part of the Beyhive, the benefits of a predominantly plant-based diet are hard to ignore.
The health and wellbeing benefits of a vegan lifestyle are said to include everything from clearer skin to a reduced risk of developing cancer.
Studies have also supported a vegan diet to improve your cardiovascular health and, oddly, to help you smell sweeter.
It has also been found going meat-free means you are less likely to be obese.
And going vegan is said to help you live longer. A 2016 study suggests that a prolonged vegan diet could help to prevent approximately 8.1 million deaths a year.
But it might not help your immune system as according to recent research vegan employees take twice as many sick days as the office carnivores.
According to one survey, vegans take almost five days off a year for flu, cold and other minor ailments – this is twice the national average.
That hasn’t stopped the take-up rate of the lifestyle soaring of late. According to The Guardian record numbers of people signed up to Veganuary this year, with a total of more than 250,000 people in 193 countries committing to cutting animal products from their diet for the month of January.
