Ben Shephard brands This Morning co-star a 'control freak' in heated exchange on live TV
Ben Shephard took aim at one of his This Morning co-stars as a debated became heated on the ITV show. Ben sat down with his co-host Cat Deeley and guests Vanessa Feltz and Camilla Tominey to discuss the latest news on Wednesday, 8 May.
The foursome spoke about a study which found women still do more housework than men, prompting Ben, 49, to try and defend men. Cat, Vanessa and Camilla grew passionate about the subject, explaining how they feel the findings of the study are accurate.
As Cat, 47, discussed being organised at home, Ben branded her a "control freak". He said: "You're a control freak! Just let it happen!"
He then insisted she needs to "just relax" as all four stars attempted to talk over one another. Vanessa, 62, then went on to recall a time she was away for work and prepared meals for her family at home, due to feeling "guilty".
"I once went to Chicago to co-host the Jerry Springer Show and I had to make and label every single meal for my whole trip," she told her This Morning co-stars. Ben then interrupted, asking: "Do you think anybody would have starved had you not made those labels?"
"I had to! I was made to feel so guilty," Vanessa hit back. Ben went on to defend himself, saying he is "so tidy" at home. He added: "Isn't it funny how we all cope when we don't get those post-its and we don't get those lists? Somehow we muddle through," as the debate continued.
It comes after Ben and Cat forced Stephen Mulhern to address the romance rumours surrounding him and Josie Gibson on This Morning on Tuesday, 7 May. The hosts grilled Stephen, 47, about photographs which showed him holding hands with Josie.
Ben joked Stephen is "dating one of the family", prompting the Catchphrase host to tell him: "Oh shut your face!"
Cat and Ben then brought up the rumours again at the end of Stephen's interview later in the show. Cat didn't beat around the bush as she said to him: "We couldn't let you go without... Josie," and Ben added: "The picture says it all."
The picture of Josie and Stephen backstage at Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway holding hands was then shown. Stephen insisted: "Listen, she didn't show up to rehearsals, I held her hand and I showed her where to stand. That is it!"
Cat and Ben refused to believe his answer, with Stephen sitting open-mouthed. He pleaded: "Why are you doing this to me?!" They then ended the show as Stephen could be heard muttering: "Unbelievable!"
