BBC Death in Paradise star Adrian Schiller's cause of 'sudden' death revealed
Actor Adrian Schiller's cause of 'sudden' death has been revealed. The Death in Paradise star tragically passed away in early April at the age of 60, with his agent announcing the sad news in a statement.
The 60 year old previously appeared in the hit BBC show Death in Paradise, as well as Netflix's The Last Kingdom and Victoria on ITV. Scott Marshall Partners, who represented Adrian for more than 30 years, said in a statement released on 4 April: “He has died far too soon, and we, his family and close friends are devastated by the loss.
"His death was sudden and unexpected and no further details around its cause are yet available. A prodigiously talented actor, he had just returned from Sydney, where he had been appearing in The Lehman Trilogy and was looking forward to continuing the international tour in San Francisco.”
Adrian's cause of death has now been confirmed by his agent as a 'major ischaemic stroke'. According to the Mayo Clinic, such a stroke happens when blood flow to a part of the brain is obstructed or lessened, leading to rapid decay of brain cells as they are deprived of oxygen and nutrients.
Scott Marshall Partners also shared information about the late star's funeral. They said a memorial service is planned for May, while a "celebration of his life" is scheduled to take place later this year.
The statement concluded: "While his death has left his family and friends shocked and grief-stricken, it is of some comfort to know that he will have died almost instantly and not felt any pain."
Adrian played Ealdorman Aethelhelm in three series of the Netflix show, The Last Kingdom, from 2015 to 2022. In 2021, he appeared as Pasha Verdinikov in two episodes of Death in Paradise titled Music to My Ears and Fake or Fortune.
In January this year Adrian was also seen on screen as criminal Drake Underwood in an episode of BBC detective series Father Brown about a heist gone wrong, according to the PA news agency. In their statement announcing his death, his agents said Adrian “enjoyed a varied and successful career across all media”.
The actor also has credits in A Touch Of Frost, Raised By Wolves, The Hollow Crown, Doctor Who, New Tricks, Silent Witness, Prime Suspect, and My Family. He also starred in a number of well-known feature-length films, including The Danish Girl (2015), the live-action revamp of Beauty and the Beast, and Tolkien released in 2019.
