Ant McPartlin 'anxious first time dad' as he 'protects' Anne-Marie on date

Ant McPartlin, the beloved Britain's Got Talent host, was spotted looking like a, "anxious" first-time dad-to-be as he and his pregnant wife Anne-Marie Corbett stepped out for lunch at The River Cafe in London. The 48 year old presenter was seen holding hands with Anne-Marie, who was cradling her growing baby bump, during their outing with pal Jamie Redknapp and his wife Frida Andersson.

The 46 year old wife of Geordie Ant is already a mum to two children from her previous marriage, but this will be Ant's first biological baby. In anticipation of this major life change, Ant and his long-time co-host Declan Donnelly recently decided to take a break from their ITV show Saturday Night Takeaway to spend more quality time with their families.

Body language expert Judi James analysed the recent photos of Ant and Anne-Marie's lunch date and suggested that Anne-Marie seems to be taking the lead during the final stages of her pregnancy. According to Judi, Ant appeared to be showing "some levels of anxiety" as he prepares for fatherhood.

Speaking to the Mirror, Judi said: "Anne-Marie looks so relaxed and happy in these poses, smiling broadly as she cradles her bump with one hand, suggesting high levels of delight at her pregnancy but also the levels of calm that you might expect from someone who has given birth twice before."

The body language expert added: "His facial expression suggests some levels of anxiety although when he turns to look down at the bump the grin that appears suggests not only pride and excitement but he also seems to be communicating with the baby already here," reports the Mirror.

In an emotional chat earlier this year, just before the final series of Saturday Night Takeaway hit our screens, Ant explained the decision to press pause on their ITV show. "On a more personal level, part of the reason we're pausing Takeaway is we need a break ourselves, and we need to spend some time with our family," the TV star confessed.

Speaking to Fault magazine back in February, the soon-to-be father shared: "We've both got children that we need to spend time with for a little bit. We need time to think and, and time to step back and look at the bigger picture and just see where we are now."

Ant, who is stepdad to Anne-Marie's two children, married his former PA in a dreamy ceremony in 2021. The TV superstar hasn't had an easy journey to wedded bliss, parting ways with ex-wife and makeup maestro Lisa Armstrong in 2018.
