Amazon Prime Day 2022: Everything You Need To Know About The Shopping Extravaganza

·5-min read

Amazon Prime Day is the perfect opportunity for you to pick up anything you've had your eye on this past year. Whether that's a brand-new air fryer, state-of-the-art coffee machine or best-selling blender, you can pretty much always count on the e-tailer to offer up a variety of fantastic deals on sell-out products during the two-day sale.

Not quite sold? Don't take it from us, take it from John Boumphrey, the UK's Country Manager of Amazon. He says,“Our Prime members across the UK will find the widest selection and best deals yet this Prime Day,”

From thousands of local British small businesses our members love, to the national brands and popular products they trust, Prime Day will help people save money, have fun, and also shop small.”

With dates for the big sale now confirmed, we have a feeling this is going to be quite the shopping occasion... (Psst, deals have already started reeling in).

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Now in its eighth year, Amazon Prime Day is the e-tailer's annual sales shopping event. It gives Amazon Prime customers exclusive access to major deals and discounts on a whole bunch of products.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon has confirmed that Prime Day will take place over two days. The first discounts will launch at 00.01 on Tuesday 12 July, with offers running until 23.59 on Wednesday 13 July.

These dates will be the same across the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Luxembourg, Singapore, UAE, Mexico, China and Japan.

How does Amazon Prime Day work?

You need to be an Amazon Prime Member to get access to the deals. If you're yet to register, you can sign up for Amazon Prime's free 30-day trial. After the free trial runs out, it’s £7.99 a month.

Typically, there are two types of Amazon Prime Day deals:

  1. Lightning fast deals (deals which are activated at a specific time and last until the stock of that particular product runs out completely)

  2. 24/48 hour deals (deals that last for a full day, or two)

There's no calling which products will get what type of deal, so you'll have to stay on the lookout for the best price-cuts.

Alerts via the Amazon app

One of the easiest ways to keep in the loop with deals, is by setting up notifications. Simply turn on 'Watched and Waitlisted Deals' in the app's settings, and then tap 'watch' on the specific item. When the deal starts, your smartphone will get a notification.

Support Small Businesses

Last year, Amazon actively encouraged customers to shop with small businesses. And this year's no different. During the lead-up to the event and for every £1 spent on eligible small business products, customers will receive a chance to win a selection of prizes.
