Presenter Alison Hammond has spoken out for the first time about her boyfriend, David Putman. The star first mentioned her boyfriend on This Morning last month. Opening up in the Good Housekeeping UK January edition Alison said: “I can see how, on paper, you’d notice the age difference. But honestly, when we see the word ‘toyboy’ written about us, it bears no relation to what we have at all.

“Yes, I’m 22 years older than he is, but if you saw us together, you’d understand. People have said to me: ‘We get it now.’ He’s so mature and sensible, and I’m so not. And the things he says to me...they’re just so lovely. It’s like a jigsaw; we fit and it all comes together.”

Alison and David, a Russian masseuse, who is 22 years her junior, have shared a few Instagram posts together. However until now, Alison hadn't publicly addressed her new relationship.

David wasn’t the only person Alison opened up about. She also mentioned her 19 year old son, Aidan. Alison explained: “If you could feel the way my son loves me, it’s magical. He’s grown into such a gentleman. He helps me so much, doing things around the house. He gives really good advice and because he’s Gen Z, he has his finger on the pulse and tells me what’s cool.

“He’s the yin to my yang; he’s like me, but a calmer version. I’m all, ‘Woo-hoo’ and he’s more, "Mum, chill." He doesn’t try to rein me in, though. He wouldn’t try to change me because, well, why mess with perfection?”

During the interview, Alison also opened up about her weight loss journey. She started seeing a personal trainer twice a week after finding out that she was pre-diabetic, and said she is now no longer pre-diabetic and has a “new shape” that she loves and adds “look at me, I’m a bombshell”.

The star also reflected on a conversation she had with her mother, Maria, who passed away in 2020, where she said to her daughter to “sort out” her weight. Maria had type 2 diabetes and Alison confesses her mum was “worried” about her.

As part of her new regime, Alison has cut down on sweets and “fatty foods”, she also sees a personal trainer, uses weights, goes on walks, often stretches and “sometimes” does yoga. When asked if she’d ever use weight loss medication, Alison confirmed she hadn’t so far, but said she’d wouldn’t rule it out in the future.
