Looking for your next summer crochet project? Why not make it this cool crochet shirt – it's perfect to throw on over shorts for a relaxed look.

This crochet shirt is the ideal pattern for improver crocheters who have mastered the basic techniques and would like to use their skills to make something stylish for their handmade wardrobe.

We've crocheted our shirt in a cool green shade – but you can use any colour you prefer for your shirt. Just be sure to use a DK yarn to achieve the same texture and weight.

This pattern is made up mainly of treble crochet stitches – you can brush up on how to treble crochet with our video tutorial.

Tension

14 sts and 7 rows to 10cm square over lace treble crochet using a 4.5mm hook.

Back

Using 4.5mm hook, ch88 (96:104:116:124), turn.

Foundation row (WS): Working into 5th ch from hook (counts as 1tr, miss 2 sts), [1tr, 2ch, 2tr] in same st, *miss next 3 sts, [2tr, 2ch, 2tr] in next st; rep from * to last 3 sts, miss next 2 sts, 1tr, turn. 86 (94:102:114:122) sts

Pattern row (RS): Ch3 (counts as tr), [2tr, 2ch, 2tr] in each 2chsp to last st, 1tr in turning ch, turn.

This row sets lace treble stitch and is repeated.

Work a further 35 (36:37:38:39) rows in patt, fasten off.

Right front

Making up

Measure 24 (26:28:29:31)cm down from shoulder at either side of Front and Back side edge and place a marker for armholes. Fold sleeve in half, placing fold at shoulder seam, sew sleeves into position between markers. Join side and sleeve seams. attach buttons matching buttonholes. Weave in ends and block to given measurements.
