Throughout August, triumphant yellow sunflower fields bloom right around the UK, creating the most extraordinary sights. From Surrey to Kent and Wales, there are a handful of beautiful spots for visitors to explore (and pick) the sunshine-yellow flowers.

1. Garsons Farm, Esher, Surrey

Good news for anyone wanting to pick their own beautiful bunches, as Garsons Farm in Surrey offers pick-your-own fields for visitors to harvest their own. They bloom in July and August so you'll have to head down there soon to ensure you get the best bunch. Head to the farm shop on your way out (it has been voted the best in Surrey) for hand-made scotch eggs.

2. Hitchin Lavender, Hertfordshire

Hitchin Lavender might be best known for their dazzling rows of lilac lavender, but in August the fields next door are jam-packed with beautiful sunflowers — and they're just as stunning. For anyone looking to pick a bunch, it's worth noting you'll be charged 50p per stem.

3. Stanhill Farm, Kent

On the hunt for a day trip the whole family will love? Head to Stanhill Farm throughout August and September and you'll see a breathtaking sight of growing sunflowers. Best of all, you can take home a bunch with you on your way out. There's no entry fee but you'll be charged on the weight of flowers you take. Make sure to pay a visit to the farm shop before you leave (children will love trying the samples by the door).

4. Vine House Farm, Lincolnshire

There's something wonderful about stumbling across a blossoming sunflower field when you least expect it. Just drive along the road leading up to the gates at Vine House Farm and you'll instantly fall in love with the sight. Here, they grow over 100 acres of sunflowers on the farm each year. Harvesting usually begins in September, so try to plan a visit then. Insider tip: visit when the sun sets for a truly spectacular scene.

5. Blooming Green, Kent

Over in Kent, eco-friendly florist, Blooming Green, has a dazzling selection of beautiful flowers on display. If you visit in August, you'll find a plethora of sunshine-yellow sunflowers growing tall. You can fill a bucket full of flowers with all kinds of stunning foliage and flowers, too. Definitely worth a visit.

6. Cairnie Fruit Farm, Scotland

One of the biggest fruit farms in Scotland, Cairnie has everything from strawberries to sunflowers and pumpkins in autumn. Head here for a day trip and don't forget to head to the cafe on your way out; you won't regret it.

7. Cotswold Farm Park, Gloucestershire

Over in the heart of the Cotswolds, Cotswold Farm Park has a breathtaking sea of sunflowers for the public to enjoy every Sunday. Due to ongoing social distancing restrictions, tickets will have to be booked in advance and cost £5 per adult. You can purchase the sunflowers on your visit as well as book in for an afternoon tea at their lovely coffee shop.

8. The Pop-Up Farm

Head to this blossoming sunflower field in Hertfordshire each August and you'll discover a bright sea of yellow. "Immerse yourself in our sunflower festival to enjoy our wide-open spaces, fresh air and to meet our amazing sunflower sommeliers who will help you choose and learn about our flowers. Pick your own sunflowers, strolling through our sunflower trail," says the team.
